A Day at Foundation for Blind Children As puppy raisers we are often asked how we can give up a puppy that we have raised, nurtured, spent endless hours training and who has also been our constant companion for a year or more. Well, the answer is in this picture book. The puppies we receive from Guide Dogs for the Blind to raise are destined to enrich lives more than we can calculate. Though not all will become guides, all may become therapy dogs, hearing dogs, diabetes detection dogs, rescue dogs, police dogs, K9 Buddies and always a beloved family member. Members of Phoenix Guide Dog Raisers were thrilled to help Guide Dogs for the Blind host information sessions at Foundation for Blind Children for both families of students interested in the K9 Buddy Program and the Guide Dog for the Blind Alumni group. The children got to interact with the puppies and even take a real guide dog for a spin! Their biggest thrill was having the the confidence to go "fast" when they were being led by a guide dog. |
